An Exciting Weekend in the Rockies

Two nights of camping and a full, exciting weekend of horseback riding in the mountains.

Be a cowboy – or girl – for the weekend. Anchor D’s Weekender horseback riding trip goes into our Mountain Wilderness Camp, it is a beautiful ride into this camp on a Friday afternoon. Camp consists of canvas outfitter’s tents with cots and foamies, a bathroom tent, and a large kitchen tent.

Anchor D supplies all meals, starting with supper on Friday night after arriving in camp, and ending with lunch on Sunday. We supply everything for your horseback vacation except for your sleeping bag and personal gear. Your full weekend of riding through the mountains and enjoying the evening campfires will leave you exhilarated, and with a better understanding of the cowboy way of life.

Price includes all meals, horses, cooks, wranglers, accommodation, cots and foamies, and all the fun you can stand!

Weekend Itinerary

Friday: Meet at Anchor D at 1:00 p.m. We will truck the horses and gear to the trailhead, where we will load the wagon, give a basic horsemanship course, mount our horses and set off on the trail to camp.

Saturday: Breakfast is served at 8:00 a.m. We leave camp at 10 a.m. and head out for one of several destinations that are available. We will ride through rivers, valleys, canyons and passes. Travelling through some incredibly rugged country, you will gain a new respect for your sure-footed mountain horse.

Sunday: Breakfast is at 8:00 a.m. The horses are ready and the wagons are packed by 10:30 a.m., ready to head to the trailhead. The wagons go on ahead, while the riders go on a side trip to have lunch on a high pass or beside a beautiful triple waterfall. Arrival time at the trailhead is between 3 and 4 p.m. (that’s Cowboy Time!).

Incredible experience and very lovely staff. I travelled quite a way to get there but it was totally worth it! I would definitely recommend this experience to EVERYONE!

I just want to thank you and your crew for a great time on the weekender trail ride. I thouroughly enjoyed it and it did give me my mountain fix. The country reminds me a lot of northern B.C. except that the timberline is very high here. See you soon.

Thank you very much again for making it possible to ride with you for that weekend in July. Many thanks also to Clarke for guiding us safely through the mountains and for showing us so many beautiful places. And of course to our camp cooks Sharon and Bobby and everybody else who made this adventure possible. This was definitely not my last tour with you! Next time it’ll have to be longer, not just a weekend.

Just dropping you a note to say how much we enjoyed our weekend. The weather was wonderful and your staff were fantastic. Pearl, Pablo and Shelley were so patient and helped us whenever we needed it. We enjoyed the food and the company. You were right the horses were so well trained. Thanks again and we would not hesitate to pass your name on to future riders and we do hope to make it back.

Just wanted to say thanks for such a great weekend of riding and superior hospitality.
Please let Dewy know how much we appreciated the offer to stay at the house because of the cold weather and please also give Pablo a high five for being such a great guide and let Pearl know that she can come cook for me anytime. Her meals were incredible. Thanks as well for booking that shuttle to the airport. It got me at the airport in plenty of time. Happy Trails!!

What a great time we had on our weekender! Clearly, customer service is a priority at Anchor D. We experienced all four seasons in one trip. We had a hot summer day, a spring shower, a fall lightening storm and a blizzard. Talk about extreme holidaying, it was simply another part of a great experience, makes for a good story and was a memory for our whole family to savour forever. The trip was an opportunity to spend time with family, enjoy a quiet time away from work and cellphones and get back in touch with what is really important. After last year, we didn't think it could get any better but it really was. Thanks again! Until next time....
