The Most Popular Trip We Have

It’s a 7-day moving trip, using two teams of draft horses and covered wagons to transport the food, camp and duffle to the two different camps we stay in during the trip. While the wagons roll through the lower elevations, the horseback riders hit the high mountain trails that take you high above timberline, past tumbling mountain streams and through stands of virgin timber following the Continental Divide between Alberta and BC. By the time you get to the next camp, the kitchen tent is set up and a welcome cup of hot coffee is ready for you.

Please check in for your trip at the ranch at 9:30 a.m. on the first day. We supply all your meals, starting with lunch on the first day, and ending with lunch on the last day. We provide the horses, cooks, wranglers, guide, tents, cots with foam mattresses, all your meals and snacks – everything but your sleeping bag and personal gear.

Please note that while we highly recommend helmets we do not supply them because they need to be professionally fitted, so if you wish to wear one or have your child wear one, you will need to bring it with you.

Words can never express the Great Divide Ride we just completed. It certainly was the ride of a lifetime. Thank you to Dewey for putting up with us old gals. Pearl for her outstanding cooking, and wranglers Charlotte, Catherine, Pablo and Jack....the trip would not have been the same without all of you. The Rockies are a very special place and I know I will NEVER have an experience quite like the ride of 2015. Thanks so much!

I just wanted to thank all of you. The Great Divide ride was the best seven days I've ever experienced! The people were great, the horses the best and the scenery - out of this world!! No one could ask for better and I'm looking forward to my next trip.

Once again another fabulous trip, the staff were great. Pearl, just her personality made the weekend. We especially loved having Chad and his expertise with the horses, the area and most of all his voice that that went along with the guitar that he played for all of us. Pablo (loved his accent!) and his compassionate ways! The guests that went out were awesome this time around.

Em and I want to thank you for a great trail ride - wonderful food, wonderful scenery and wonderful companions. Paloosa was great and the staff was great and helped make the trip that much more enjoyable. Can't imagine the effort that you have to go through to make the logistics work!

We really enjoyed the whole Canadian & Alaskan experience but the week we spent with the Anchor D crew in the mountains was undoubtedly the highlight. The riding was spectacular and we have an everlasting impression of mountains going on and on and the other major impression was the vegetation which was flowering profusely to great heights and a bushline that was twice as high as ours. However the memories we treasure most are you Dewy,Pearl and the rest of your crew without exception and the marvelous way we were looked after and of course the rest of the party we rode with for the week (The Originals ).

My husband just called from his hotel in Calgary. He said he had a great time again! Thanks for taking care of him - you've helped him fulfill an important dream he's had for a long time. I guess you've discussed his next trip. That's great - he will be back out to see you.

I had such a wonderful time on the Great Divide Ride last week. The trip was better than I could have imagined. I'd be delighted to give referrals to anyone who is looking to join an Anchor D trip and would like to speak with a past guest. Feel free to give out my e-mail or phone number to anyone who wants a candid opinion. I only have rave reviews for Dewey's fun-loving style, the great and well-trained horses and the skilled and professional staff. Thank you for sharing your beautiful neck of the woods!
